Tree

Oliver Nickell made this track with his friends when he was just 18: "we were just kids attempting to make the music we wanted to hear". This turned out to be the track that sparked the attention of infamous label R&S, and from that Tree was born. The track features Beat Culture and Lena Kuhn and now it's been transformed into a short film - "the first proper attempt at visually resurrecting Tree Collaborations". So if you've got a spare 6 minutes, it's worth checking out.

Saint Pepsi

Saint Pepsi completely flips Beat Culture's new single Drifter on it's head, banishing any audible hint of intensity in favour of a cracking bassline which nods towards a Cali-fun-in-the-sun-pool-party more than anything I've heard since Summer 13 - unsurprisingly welcoming during the cold, murky depths of a January afternoon. This is only made all the more complete by the Pepsi earring in the artwork, of course.

Beat Culture

Here's something new and exciting from Beat Culture, it's called 'Slow Flight' and it features some pretty special vocals from Vyxor. There's a lot going on in this track, it's all about the building-up and blending of different textures and layers to create this eventual sound which is completely euphoric. This track takes Beat Culture's sound in quite a new direction, a tad more complex but my gosh it works. Stream/download the track below:

I have assignments to finish, calls to make, mail to reply to and an endless list of unfinished articles to complete. But I don't care cause I've got Beat Culture in my ear.

The forthcoming LP Tokyo Dreamer will be out via Bad Panda in January. For now you can download 'Midori for free here, head over to his Soundcloud for a few more free downloads too.
