I'm going to risk sounding like an idiot by calling this Early Wave New Wave. I apologise fully for creating such a phrase but Austin's A Sky Jet Black do sound like they could easily be opening for Bowie in 1981 or something.
This whole throwback thing is so hard to get right, especially the whole early 80s synth-heavy stuff , but I think the below track (which, by the way is my favourite from the album) proves they do it pretty well:

Hi, just to let everybody know ASJB's tour is going really well so far. The band have been getting loads of good feedback from their 2 London dates at the famous Dublin Castle and the Catch Bar. Were in Manchester Kraak Gallery, tomorrow, then Bristol's Louisiana Thursday and Leicester's Lock 42 Friday so come along and meet everybody and just have a great night.
