Gate Four

Gate Four are a Vancouver-Toronto based duo creating atmospheric soundscapes with an emphasis on warm, melodic tones, who seek to grasp the listener's attention in the absence of words or vocals. Continental Drift does just that - with influences coming through left right & centre from all over the musical spectrum.

loveislight

Loveislight is an amazing instrumental hip-hop project out of Alabama with an experimental edge that is as beautiful as it is refreshing. The below tracks are taken from the new album Gim, recently released via Step Pepper Records, I kind of have a feeling I'll be listening to this one for years to come.

Forest Swords

Everything about the new one from Forest Swords is just right. This comes along with news of the planned release of his debut album, set for next month (August 26th to be precise) - no pressure to the guy, but it sounds like the majority of the musical internet (including myself) is super hyped about the the news. Listen to The Weight of Gold below:

X¥Z

North Londoner X¥Z recently dropped his Solace EP, 20 minutes of atmospheric, blissed out electronic music inspired by the likes of J Dilla & Four Tet which is consistently good from start to finish. I think this is the first time in a long time where I've struggled picking my favourite cuts to feature, so I thouroughly recommend heading over to Bandcamp and stream this thing from back to front.

Tourist.

London via Brighton producer Tourist just dropped the second track from his new Tonight EP. I Have No Fear kind of elicits a similar feeling to the one you get waking up and having no idea where you are  , a sort of uncertain intrigue. It's kind of brilliant really, with each listen I'm more dazed by the end than I was at the start. Take a listen below:

Carnivals

Carnivals - the Sheffielf producer whose Humility EP was one of my ultimate favourites of last year - has released a couple of new tracks which exceed anything he's ever done before. Stream Kindness below; you're in for an elegantly hypnotic 4 and-a-half minutes:

Stream the other track here

Applescal

Dutch producer Applescal has put out a 3 track pre-release in preperation for the new album Dreaming in Key which will be available this coming February. Made extra special by an appearence from fellow Dutchman David Douglas, it's a pretty promising snippet. You can stream all 3 tracks below:

Terracotta Blue

The longer I spend trawling through the instrumental EPs and mixtapes I receive, the more I realise that so SO many producers sound the same. But, every now and again you find a sweet little surprise like Terracotta Blue, who sounds just that little bit more special. The below tracks are taken from the ravencrest EP which was released just yesterday (30/10), it's also available on a name your price basis over on Bandcamp, enjoy:

Mr ∆"mto

This is really really cool - I can't get over how much I like this. It's by a German producer called Mr ∆"mto, unfortunately I don't know much about him except that he has a website where he posts great music and makes amazing instrumentals. Stream/download below:

Moods

A quick post before I fly off to Ibiza. Thanks to The Find Mag, I found some real nice music from Moods, the below track is taken from the Break Out EP which was released just a couple of days ago - perfect plane riding music. Stream below & See you in a week:

#magicalpowers

The other day NASA landed a robot on Mars and I kind think that this #magicalpowers track  is what the space rover was jamming to when it landed, prepping itself to search the unknown.

But seriously though; I quite like this. #magicalpowers is the brainchild of like-minded producers AbdeCaf and Ptolomy; and Divination is taken from their forthcoming self-titled EP out August 21st via Baku Shad-do. Have a listen below:

Clams Casino

Clammy Clams is back with his second instrumental mixtape,it follows up last years tape which pretty much blew my mind with tracks like this. This one features cuts from recent work with A$AP & Lil B, as well as that sick rework he did of Lana Del Rey's Born To Die and another of Washed Out's Amor Fati, which is playing below. You can download the entire mixtape completely free right here, thanks Clammy.

WaMoo Papez

I think I just received the nicest submission related email ever - flying spaghetti monsters were mentioned, good job I liked the music that came with it otherwise things would have been pretty awkward. So I'd like to introduce you to WaMoo Papez, this is actually his fourth full-length and it's called We Float.. I think it's instrumental hip-hop with an inspired twist, I mean if someone told me like 2 days ago that I'd be listening to a hip-hop beat that samples Beirut's A Sunday Smile I'd have been like what are you crazy? But it's pretty cool, through the whole album there's so much experimentation with different sounds and effects that go way beyond your typical J Dilla basic beat inspired album, so I'd definitely recommend it, plus it's completely free to download here.
