DJ Hawaii

I kind of thought Summer was fading out a little, yesterday I wore a coat for the first time in months. But then I heard DJ Hawaii; nothing too complicated, just a nice bit of sax, some Bongos, and a smooth bass line. So now it seems only appropriate to go and salvage that inflatable paddling pool with a 99 flake in one hand, and a giant Mojito-filled ice bucket in the other.

Klaves

It's actually a proper Summer here in England, I think for the first time in my 21 years of existence, Ibiza has nothing on this. Oh and it's also Friday - so grab a free one from one of Polska's finest; Klaves to celebrate:

MAUSI

However I phrase this, I'm not going to make this track sound anywhere near as good as it actually is. Basically, MAUSI have recorded this Knowles inspired hybrid-cover of Losing You and Say My Name, and it turns out it's actually pretty incredible. It's summery, it's uplifting, it just works. The days are getting longer, the sun is out more, my skin's becoming less pale by the day - all of that kind of calls for music like this. I'm so excited by this I even kind of feel like one of those girls dancing into the sunset (you'll get what I mean if you watch the video), it's pretty impossible to dislike Keebo to be honest.

So the best day of the best day of the year (pancake day) is drawing to a close, Valentines Day is a complete no-go for me and so now I'm just waiting round for that precious summer sun to touch my skin. Blackbird Blackbird

Everything Blackbird Blackbird touches turns into a warm ball of happy summery joy. He also has this rare talent in which he can put out new music pretty frequently without it sounding churned and same-old-same-old. He always has something new to give, which is why he's one of my absolute favourites. So this is his new track Happy With You, it's taken from the forthcoming Boracay Planet EP which I really hope is released some time soon.

MMOTHS

I actually don't think Mmoths can do any wrong, he just put together this bursting remix of Vacationer's 'Trip' and already I've hit repeat like countless times, I've even been on a train ride with it. Also, it's free to download, so go listen to this somewhere pretty:

Seapony

Seapony first stole my heart when I heard this:



So if you're looking for an upbeat summery fix, you can't really go wrong with this band. The below track is called 'What You Wanted', it's taken from their upcoming second album Falling which is set for release this September via Hardly Art. Simple and catchy melodies accompanied by melting vocals, sometimes it's all you want.

Drops

If there was ever a track to say 'welcome to British summer time everybody', I think this would be it. This is the new release from Drops, it's called You Have My Word and it's coming out at the end of the month on a DIY label from my home town called heat death records. It's such a pretty track fitting in nicely somewhere between the happy folky vibes of Stornoway and a more English-y Summer Heart, with a bit of Tunng thrown in there for good measure. Good mix yes? Though I am avoiding the term 'folktronica' as much as possible, that's pretty much what it is. Stream the track below and see what you think:
